| Next project
Develop a public meeting on safety for Fall 2024 The committee invited Claudia Kittock to join us to frame a public meeting on the perception of public safety in downtown neighborhoods in relation to the presence of groups of young people in the evenings and at night. Claudia reported to us on her experience with the Cedar-Riverside Youth Council The Council represents Somali youth. Claudia described their concerns about interactions with police in Gold Medal park, along the river and around the Stone Arch Bridge. We are initially thinking of a moderated panel discussion that includes Youth Council representatives, police representation and possibly others. Residents and commercial interests within the DMNA footprint would be invited to observe and ask questions. Claudia and members of the Youth Council will be invited to the next meeting to help us further refine the focus and format of the event. |
