Dear ,

On behalf of the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT), you are
cordially invited to participate in the Bridge Design Charette for the St.
Anthony Falls Bridge Design-Build Project.  A "Charette" is another word for
a specialized workshop-style meeting. This workshop will enable the
community to jointly explore bridge concepts and features, along with the
Mn/DOT and the FIGG Aesthetics Design Team.  The participants will be asked
to select aesthetic design features for the new replacement bridge.  Your
participation in the Bridge Design Charette will help shape the aesthetic
design of this important transportation project for our community.  Our goal
is to create a World-class project that will be a model for other bridges in
America.

The Bridge Design Charette will be held on Wednesday October 24, 2007 at the
Four Points by Sheraton located at 1330 Industrial Boulevard, Minneapolis
from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  In order to maximize the opportunity for the
community to interact one-on-one and in small groups with the Aesthetics
Design Team, the full-day Bridge Design Charette will follow a goal-oriented
agenda throughout the day.  To maximize the efficiency of the day and
everyone working together we will provide a continental breakfast and lunch
at the Charette.  Linda Figg, Director of Bridge Art for FIGG, will lead the
Charette with members of the bridge design team on hand to discuss various
topics.  The interactive workshop will also include open discussions on
different design elements, during which you will have the opportunity to
share ideas and provide preferences for the aesthetics of this new signature
bridge.  

Attached is a response form, which we ask you to fill out and return via
e-mail, fax or by transmitting information by phone as given on the form.
We are asking participants to commit the full day in order to have
meaningful input.  Because space is limited to 100 participants, and in
order to allow sufficient time to prepare proper arrangements for October
24, we need a response from you by no later than Friday, October 19, 2007.
Reservations will be taken on a first come basis.  The maximum number of 100
attendees is based upon creating an effective participation process.
However, if more than 100 people wish to participate in the Charette, then a
second identical Charette will be held on October 25, 2007.  Invitations are
being sent out to many community representatives in an effort to have
balanced participation from residents, businesses, and government officials.
It is anticipated that the media will be represented.  Please let us hear
from you by returning your form as early as possible.

We hope that you will be able to join us and we look forward to your

this community's vision for the future.
