Minneapolis - March 1, 2006 -- Central Community Housing Trust (CCHT) will
celebrate 20 years of excellence in creating affordable housing in
Minneapolis at its annual meeting on March 28, 2006. Since its inception in
1986, CCHT has built and renovated nearly 1,300 housing units, providing
homes to more than 2,000 residents annually.
The annual meeting will look back on CCHT's history, and discuss the
challenges that lie ahead as its vision expands to the development of
affordable housing in suburban communities of the Twin Cities, and beyond.
The event starts at 4:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church located at 720
Thirteenth Avenue South in the Elliot Park neighborhood of Minneapolis. Free
dinner will be served.
The highlight of the program is a keynote address by Stephen Young, Global
Executive Director of the Caux Round Table based in Minneapolis, who will
speak about 'social justice and how it begins with you'.
President, Alan Arthur, and board chairperson, Justin Cummins will present
progress reports, and announce the 2006 Building Community Award recipient.
Previous awardees have included Susan Watlov-Phillips, Charlie Warner, Gail
Dorfman, Millie Schafer, and Tom Fulton.
Caucuses will follow the program in which CCHT building and neighborhood
residents elect new members to the board of directors. To submit board
nominations please call Suzanne Gardella at 612.341.3148, ext. 235 or email
sgardella at ccht.org. Nominations will be accepted during the event.
The event is free! Residents of CCHT buildings and neighborhoods where CCHT
properties are located are invited to participate. Free professional
childcare is available.
Please RSVP by calling 612.341.3148, ext. 210, or register online at
