Mark Your Calendars:
The Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhood Association(DMNA) would like to invite
you to the first meeting of its revived Crime and Safety Committee. DMNA
board member Tom Hoch has graciously agreed to chair this committee. The
meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 21, at 6:30 p.m., at the DMNA
office. A formal agenda will be emailed the week of March 13. Possible
agenda items include:
- Using the 911 System effectively - Understanding the importance of
calling police to report suspicious activity, not just for
emergencies.
- Establishing a "citizen patrol" for downtown to address and
prevent livability crimes.
o Review models used in other Minneapolis neighborhoods (i.e.
Stevens Square).
o Determine level of interest.
- Identifying hotspots for criminal activity in the Downtown East
and West neighborhoods.
- Strategizing ways to work with the First Precinct and Restorative
Justice
Community Action, Inc., most effectively to address crime and safety issues
that most negatively impact the downtown community.
If you are interested in participating on this committee, please send me an
email reply to this message.
Sincerely,
Christie Rock
